Through the Wachau on the Danube Cycle Path

See the Beauty of the Wachau Region from your Bike Seat

Take on Europe’s most famous bike path! One of its most beautiful sections leads right past the Hotel Wachau in Melk. "Sunday cyclists" also effortlessly bike these paths and trails, which offer magnificent views over the Danube and across the countryside.

The Danube Cycle Path is 365 kilometres long and begins in Passau, Bavaria. From here it follows the river to Austrian Hainburg (on the border with Slovakia). Along the 260 kilometres of trail that run through Lower Austria, you’ll see well-known sights one after another, as well as lesser-known attractions waiting to be discovered.

Plus you can switch from the north to the south shore as often as you’d like. There are bridges in Ybbs, Pöchlarn, Melk and Krems, as well as ferries in Marbach, Spitz, Weissenkirchen and Dürnstein.

Attractions and fun in the great outdoors

And it is not only the splendid Göttweig and Melk Benedictine abbeys or the watchful castles from years past (such as the Dürnstein ruins) that await passing "treasure hunters". There are so many other churches, villages and idyllic places in the great outdoors that are just waiting to be discovered.
